There are no grey areas for Omni Advertising CFO Minda Katz. The situation at hand is either a debit or a credit, black or white. Her left-brained analytic skills are the perfect compliment to the creative, right-brained craziness that is often the essence of advertising.

Minda has over 25 years experience as the Chief Financial Officer for three of the country’s premier advertising agencies. Her advertising career started in the early 80’s working for a relatively small agency in Miami called “The Ad Team”. “I got the job by default. The other candidate wanted $25.00 per week less than I wanted and they thought I couldn’t stand up and work with 7 very aggressive men. When I was hired they were billing about $2 million per year. During the 15 years I was there, the billing was over $100 million per year and the shop had over 100 employees. I even outlasted one of the partners by more than 5 years.”

Minda helped guide Omni over the past 4 years from a $10 million shop to the $80 million shop it is today. As a member of Omni’s Executive Management Team, Minda is responsible for all financial aspects of the business and helps to run the company on a day to day basis. In addition to her financial responsibilities, she is responsible for Human Resources; 401K; health insurance; ordering all computers, software and equipment; and is the corporate liaison with Omni’s attorney, bank, and all outside vendors.

Over the past two years Minda has headed up the opening of Omni’s 2 state-of-the-art audio studios as well as a TV studio complete with filming and green screen capabilities. From researching the equipment to negotiating with the vendors to overseeing the construction, Minda was able to get each studio up and running and staffed in just a few months time.

Minda’s philosophy when it comes to recruiting is not to be afraid to hire smart, talented employees. “You can’t be afraid to surround yourself with people as good as or even better than you. They’ll just make you that much better.”
